We’ve tried to stay unbiased in our ratings, but as horror fans, we might sometimes be a little too forgiving. That’s why we use both a number system and a category system. Occasionally, the numerical score may not perfectly match the category, but we feel these differences help the ratings make sense for non-horror fans as well.
😴 Mild Horror ~(1 - 4)
"Sleep Like a Baby" – Barely spooky. You’ll drift off with no worries.
"Creepy but Cozy" – A touch of eerie, but still a comfort read.
"Campfire Chill" – Mild scares, more vibes than terror. Great for fans of Goosebumps nostalgia.
😬 Moderate Horror ~(5 - 7)
"Uneasy Dreams Ahead" – Just creepy enough to linger after lights out.
"Nightlight Status" – Definitely unsettling. You’ll be sleeping with at least one light on.
"Double-Check-the-Locks" – Psychological horror or realistic chills that mess with your head.
😱 Full-Throttle Horror ~(8 - 10)
"Up All Night" – Couldn’t put it down, but now you’re too scared to sleep.
"Nope Nope Nope" – Visceral, disturbing, possibly gory. You might need a palate cleanser after.
"Regret Reading This in the Dark" – Claustrophobic terror, cosmic horror, or deep existential dread.
"Summon a Priest" – So terrifying you question your life choices. Possibly cursed.
